Danger Will Robinson!

Posted: May 31, 2012 in Uncategorized

Ok, who remembers where that line came from? Yep, ‘Lost In Space’. I know that you have to be a tad older to remember that one but hang in, you’ll get it.

In the show Lost In Space, there was a robot that warned the young boy Will Robinson, when danger was present. The robot would blurt out “danger Will Robinson, danger Will Robinson”. It was great for Will because he always knew when danger was coming around, as long as the robot was around.

It would be great if we had a robot around all the time to warn us about impending danger but it isn’t likely to happen. We do have a way to gain wisdom about life and with that wisdom we can make better decisions. God’s Word is full of wisdom for our lives and look at this little piece

A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it. Prov 22:3

Gaining wisdom from His Word will help us to take refuge, be protected from danger instead of being one of those who are simple, not looking to Him and then suffer. Where would you rather be?

Failure is not an option, it is inevitable. I hate to burst that bubble for you but its true. This manhood deal is tough and we are not going to nail it 100% of the time. So get used to it, failure happens in life.

Psalm 37:23-24 says;  The steps of a man are established by the Lord, And He delights in his way. 24 When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand. (NASB)

It doesn’t say IF he falls but WHEN. We should gain comfort and encouragement from these verses. We should see the wisdom as well. Knowing that your are not going to ‘never fail’ is a relief and we need to recognize that.

A Short Video

Take a look at this short video clip of Pastor Dave. He makes a great point.

Passionate Warrior

Posted: May 23, 2012 in Just A Thought

Men will mobilize and do amazing things if the are passionate about what they are doing. If men are passionate about a sports team, they go to crazy lengths to support the team, I mean really – face and chest painting, please!

So what does it look like when men are passionate about the things of God? When men are excited, amazed and passionate about Jesus, what could happen? Broken things in our culture can get fixed, people being transformed by the Gospel, that’s what can happen and is happening everyday. Let’s not ever forget about the captives, the weak and the oppressed, they need to be set free. Check out Ecclesiates 4:1 and think about who comes to mind. Here’s a link to a video also, check it out

One Thing

Posted: May 22, 2012 in Just A Thought, Uncategorized

Remember the movie “City Slickers”? the old crusty cowboy Curly talked about ‘the one thing’. Then, the guys spent the rest of the movie trying to figure out what the one thing was for their lives.

How many men have never found their ‘one thing’? The one thing that they have been called to do or be. Every man has a blastzone of influence, a sphere in which he can be influential in the lives of others. It may be his family or in a hobby or in a business setting and it could be in his church. The point is that men are influential to others. You can influence people in a positive way or a negative way but you will influence people.

For men who follow Christ, we have our example. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:1  Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

That is a pretty good model for the rest of us…just something to think about.

Fruit or No Fruit

Posted: May 20, 2012 in God's man

If the ambition of God’s man is to become like Christ, then we must aggressively pursue that one ambition. This means the borders of our growth will be constantly stretched for the duration of our life on earth. Jesus didn’t mix words or parse verbs on the whole topic of growth. He said either you are growing or you are dying—fruit or no fruit. There is no middle ground for the man of God. That is why so many men are so incredibly down when they have chosen to coast in their spiritual lives. They are not coasting; they are dying a slow death! They have stopped abiding in the vine of Christ, are disconnected from His process, and have no source of nourishment for their convictions. God’s dream for God’s man always involves personal growth and fruit. He is visibly increasing, I am decreasing. More Christ, less you. More humility, less pride. Less self, more service for others.

Are you willing to go there in your walk with God? If so, you will experience His dream and catch his vision for your life.
