What Is Your Response?

Posted: July 10, 2012 in Just A Thought

If your life is anything like mine, things don’t always work out like we planned. Even the best plans have things that we didn’t see. Maybe our plan was just that, our plan and not God’s plan. The simple plain truth is that things don’t always go our way or how we wanted them to go.

A few years ago a friend of mine gave me some good advice about those frustrating life situations in general. He said that he always tried to do three things when things didn’t quite go his way. Seek the Lord, Seek the lesson and Seek the laughter. I have found when I apply these simple filters, things usually get clearer.

Seeking the Lord in prayer and through scripture allows us to connect with Him and that gives us strength, His strength.

Seek the lesson allows us to see that maybe we were wrong or that God’s plan is bigger than ours and will work in and through our lives. Check Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. God is Large and In Charge, not us.

Seek the laughter helps us to not take ourselves so seriously. The laughter may not be easily seen but in frustrating times laughter can help calm us down.

It’s not if a frustrating circumstance will come your way, it’s when. And when one does come your way next time, maybe these three things can help you get through the day.
