Breakfast Saturday Morning

Posted: February 28, 2013 in Uncategorized

Our next Men’s Breakfast this Saturday at 7:30. Our theme for this year has been UNIFIED – for a common purpose. Each quarter we have been looking at our pathway for men, Get In – Get Healthy – Get Strong – Get Going, as men G.R.O.W. in their discipleship journey. This quarter our emphasis is on Get Strong, here we encourage men to be servant leaders in their families, their church and their communities under the authority of Jesus Christ.

I will be walking us through the Get Strong piece of the pathway on Saturday and we will welcome back Paul Coughlin. Paul spoke at a Men’s Breakfast here at Bethel back in 2008 and was one of the keynote speakers at an Iron Sharpens Iron Conference in the Tri-Cities last year. Paul is an author; two books that you may recognize are No More Christian Nice Guy and Unleashing Courageous Faith. Paul is also the founder and president of The Protectors, a national organization that works to reduce adolescent bullying. The Protectors is one of the only organizations that offers a faith-based approach to the issue of bullying.

As part of The 13, a 3-year campaign to strategically focus Bethel’s resources toward aiding captives, building churches, and changing culture among 13 people groups, we are partnering with The Protectors in our Parenting people group to change the culture of adolescent bullying in our community.

I look forward to seeing you this weekend and as always I am praying for you, your small group and all the men of Bethel to be the men that God has called us to be.

For the leader in you

For any of you that lead others, and that is most of you at some level, here is a good thought.

A Short Read

Just passing along an article that I thought was interesting. Here’s the link

Have a great day!

I had lunch with a buddy yesterday. We talked about life and ministry. We talked about how great our spouses are and our kids. We also talked about how no matter how much we try, how hard we work at it that we always mess up (sin) and how grateful we are for Christ’s sacrifice for us as sinners, for God’s grace and for forgiveness.

He talked about how great it would be for men to do one simple thing for their family members each day. That one thing was before leaving the house each morning to go to each of our kids and to our wife and lay a hand on their shoulder and say a quick prayer. Whether they are awake or asleep, it doesn’t matter. Asking that the Lord’s power and presence would be powerfully shown in their lives that day.

I started this morning and am going to do this each day for a week as best I can. So, if you are up for the challenge join me. If you do and you end up with a cool story that comes out of this please let me know, you can email your story to
