Jesus Calls the Twelve

Posted: March 24, 2013 in Check It Out

Here is a link to a message about how Jesus called the Twelve. It’s from Mars Hill’s pastor Mark Driscoll.

At the end of the movie The Lorax (yes I did, I have two young kids) there is a quote that is interesting. Here it is “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” Dr. Seuss

That quote struck a chord. Add to that the song Kings and Queens by Audio Adrenaline and it makes for some interesting thoughts. If you haven’t heard the song, go find it and take a listen. Part of the song says “if not us, who will be like Jesus to the least of these. If not us tell me who will be like Jesus, like Jesus to the least of these.”

Jesus said in Matthew 25:45 ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

All of that leads me to the following questions. Who are the “least of these” that God is calling you to? What are you doing about it? What am I doing? What are WE going to do together, for the least of these?

There are people all around us that hunger and thirst for the truth, for Jesus. There are those strangers around us who are in bondage, imprisoned by the chains of the world. They need Jesus. We all have someone or a group of people to reach out to and God will use us to share His Truth with them if we open our hearts our minds and do it.

Unless someone like you and me cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better for them. It’s not.

What’s Core Health for Men all about? Check out the descriptions below. If you need to do some work in one or all of these areas then Core Health is for you. If you know another guy who could use some work then bring him to. Core Health is built to help you become the man that God created you to be.

Transform through Strong Relationships

Many men today live their lives isolated from close friendships with other men. Our world tells men to be independent and that they don’t need strong ties to other men but, that isn’t the way God designed us. Godly friendships create consistency, provide care and support, stimulate healthy confessions and help make men complete in Christ. They produce positive change in men’s character, convictions, conduct and commitment to do life God’s way.

The Friendship Core Health session will help you to form those friendships and be Stronger Together.

 Standing Strong

To be a man of integrity, to be God’s man, every man must learn to be undivided about what he believes and how he actually thinks and lives. Through every trial God’s man gains new perspectives on the temptation he faces in life. Join us in this Core Health session as we look at: Spiritual Integrity, Mental Integrity, Sexual Integrity, Behavioral Integrity, Moral Integrity and more. The Temptation Core Health session will help men face the temptations in life and stand strong against them.

 Understanding a Woman’s Heart

It may be easy to get into a relationship with a woman, but it’s not so easy to make the relationship work well. It takes energy. It demands effort. It requires education and understanding. God is available to help. But there’s a catch: God’s man must connect with God’s purposes before he can truly connect with his wife (or wife-to-be). God uses the marriage relationship to promote growth in men’s lives, because it shows us our character gaps and drives us to Him for solutions. The Intimacy Core Health session for topics that include: Trust, Acceptance, Connection, Encouragement Compassion and more.

 Leading a Family

More than ever, families are desperate for spiritual leadership. And that starts with the husband and father. The responsibility of leading a family can be overwhelming. There is much at stake.  Learning to be a strong spiritual leader can help to change not only the lives of men, but also the lives of their wives and children — and impact generations to come. The Family Core Health session will help men dig into what leading a family is all about.
